50 year old man attempts to be a Gamer!

OK, so, I was in my 20s when I discovered the internet. I’m now in my 40s discovering Gaming. I’ve played video games before as a young lad. My favorites at the arcade was Galaga,Pole Position and Dragon’s Lair.

Eventually we had consoles at home. I enjoyed a little Pac-Man, Berzerk and Centipede on the Atari 2600. I then graduated to the NES, playing Tecmo Super Bowl as Bo Jackson and then the Sega Genesis, playing mostly NHL ’96. Some other sports favorites was the brutal Basketball game Arch Rivals, where you punch your opponent and it was okay. Madden Football started becoming the standard of all sports games. I tried my hand at some wrestling games but it didn’t excite me. A few handheld devices came and went over the years. My first was the Mattel Football Game – what a classic. The Nintendo DS Lite was a big one until the Sony PSP took over the market. Nintendo recently came back with the Switch.

Once I explored the internet more, I started building websites with Geocities and commissioning Fantasy Sports leagues on Yahoo. Desiring offline entertainment, I played strategy PC games, like Sid Meier’s Alpha Centauri and Gettysburg! Then the wave of digital consoles flooded the market. I won an Xbox from my job in my 30s, but never put any time into playing. By that time I was really into my occupations and had little time and energy to master the new technology.

Fast forward to today, and I am fascinated by the online Gaming world, where streamers can make a fortune with Fortnite. I’m starting off slow by playing American Truck Simulator in 2020.
