Stop Giving All Power To Satan and the Kingdom of Darkness!
As I watch some social media posts and videos, I see too many people, Christians and non-Christians, boast more about the attacks of the enemy: Satan and the Kingdom of Darkness (Ephesians 6:12) as if it’s an all powerful force that can NOT be spiritually resisted or overcome. As Christians (followers of Christ Jesus), we CAN resist the devil, and he will flee (James 4:7). Many times, our struggles are our own lusts that draw us away from God’s will: “the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life” (1 John 2:16). We all need to take more accountability for our own actions, and stop deflecting, or point the finger at others, and stop giving the credit to Satan. When people talk as if the enemy is unstoppable, they’re already out of step with the Scriptures. It’s almost as if they are addicted to the idea that Satan has more power than God. The prophet Jeremiah dealt with many flaky weirdos in his day: “the prophets give false prophecies, and the priests rule with an iron hand. Worse yet, my people like it that way! But what will you do when the end comes?” (Jeremiah 5:31 NLT)
Over time, I’ve observed some church people that have “prophetic” ministries use fear of the enemy to make you feel that Satan’s power is infinite, to attract you to the “prophetic gifting” of the messenger. There’s a weird, spookiness to them. It’s a spirit of witchcraft that these false prophets use to increase your fear of the enemy, and not the fear of Almighty God, the Creator of the universe. Christian growth isn’t built on: fear of demons, obsession with attacks or chasing spiritual hype. However, the flipside to this? Calling everything you disagree with “witchcraft” can become just as dangerous as the problem you’re calling out. Sometimes, what feels like an attack, is actually God’s chastening, or discipline. Remember two things: #1 the Fear of God is the beginning of wisdom (Proverbs 9:10), #2 Satan is under your feet (Romans 16:20). Always ask your Father in Heaven for confirmation and the answer directly.
Be Careful Who You Are Listening To
Everyone wants to be an influencer these days. False teachers and false prophets will use the wrong type of fear to hype up their own spiritual insights, to build their own following. Some people are ignorant of the things of god, some are not. Many people just want the power of the Holy Ghost to draw attention to themselves and boast of their gifting. This is just a distraction from the higher calling in Jesus Christ (Philippians 3:14) and to preach the Kingdom of God. Should we disregard real prophesy? Absolutely not. But as Paul stated “prophesies will fail” (1 Corinthians 13:8). Paul rebuked a wizard named Barjesus, aka, Elymas the sorcerer, that wanted the “power” to use for his own gain (Acts13:6-12):
The lady in the above video makes great points in functioning in your Christian duty and pure self-discipline to your spiritual growth. We are responsible for our own actions. Satan isn’t making you do anything, “each one is tempted when he is drawn away by his own desires” (James 1:14). To be effective in growing spiritually, you need the Holy Ghost, not get caught up in the presence of false prophets for truth, and being their codependent. Even from those who think they are doing good by using New Age forms of counseling. The signs will be there: they will magnify fear, position themselves as the solution and/or build influence through urgency and intimidation. God does not push, He leads.
Elijah standing against the prophets of Ba’al is a clear picture of truth vs deception. Israel was deceived by Jezebel to the point where all prophetic voices were false. Elijah, the last to stand of Yehovah’s prophets, was the 1 against the 450 prophets of Ba’al and 400 prophets of the groves. He was not distracted by the evil words being spoken over him, nor the false prophesies being declared by them. The government of Israel, under Ahab and Jezebel, was very corrupt, self-seeking, and manipulative, controlling the narrative that was spoken over Israel (I Kings 18). I’m not saying it would be an easy situation, but we can not be fear driven while operating in the Holy Spirit, prophesying God’s truth.
Bottom line, beware not to be lured into Satan’s white lies and give him ultimate power over you. Don’t glorify the enemy. Stand firm on the Word of God and remain in the Spirit of God. Avoid a political spirit (which uses fear and manipulation for control) to run the churches of God,. Embrace the Holy Spirit, listen to his counsel, and do not operate by fear, but Power, Love, and a Sound Mind (II Timothy 1:7).
