2022 University at Buffalo Veterans and Military Recognition Ceremony
On Thursday April 28, 2022, at 3 pm, in room 145 in the Student Union building, UB celebrated their graduating students that served or are serving the armed forces of the United States. Students ranged in branch and status of service, and boasts diversity among students.
UB honored the university’s veteran and military service members yesterday with a program in Capen Hall. Special guests included Efner “Lucky” Davis: A World War II veteran from Arcade, N.Y. Lucky joined the U.S. Army Medical Corps and served in the 37th Infantry Division.
Student Veterans Association
A special lounge and study area was dedicated for the Veterans on May 1, 2018, in honor of Lucky. By way of this lounge, Lucky seeks to ensure student veterans have a safe place to relax, build a strong campus community and excel academically. The lounge is also the base camp for the UB Student Veterans Association (SVA).
Are you interested in serving others, going to events and hanging out with other student veterans? Then join the UB Student Veterans Association (SVA), where you’ll find students who share your common experience — and a desire to get the most out of their time at UB. The SVA is a student-run organization that is committed to scholarship, service and camaraderie, and is open to student veterans, dependents of active duty military, and those who are currently serving in the Reserves, Guard or ROTC. Information about SVA events, meetings and news for veterans will be posted on the group’s Facebook page. You can also visit the Veteran Services office to learn more.
