Is It the Devil or Is It You? pt 5

Stop Giving Satan All the Credit: Sometimes the Problem Is Us

A Christian wake-up call about spiritual warfare, personal responsibility, and the power of a renewed mind.

“IS IT THE DEVIL—or IS IT YOU?”: Part 1 – Part 2 – Part 3 – Part 4 – Part 5

Part 5. The Real Question Is: Who Is Being Formed in You?

Galatians 5:22–23 describes the fruit of the Spirit: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. Those qualities should be growing in our lives as we walk with Christ.

So here’s a question worth considering:

  • Are we becoming more like Jesus, or are we becoming more preoccupied with the devil?
  • Are we growing in love, or becoming suspicious of everyone?
  • Are we growing in peace, or interpreting every inconvenience as an attack?
  • Are we growing in humility, or blaming everything except ourselves?

These are not questions of condemnation. They’re invitations to examine our hearts and allow the Holy Spirit to work within us. God has not called us to live in fear of the enemy. He has called us to walk in faith, obedience, truth, and the power of His Spirit.

A Final Word

Christian, remember this: The devil is real. Spiritual warfare is real. Prayer is powerful. Deliverance is biblical. But so are repentance, wisdom, discipline, forgiveness, obedience, and personal responsibility. We don’t honor God by exaggerating the enemy’s power. We honor God by trusting His Word and living according to it.

The next time something goes wrong, don’t just ask, “Is the devil attacking me?” Ask, “Lord, what is the faithful response? Is there something I need to resist, something I need to repent of, or something I need to learn?” Then trust God enough to act on the answer.

Less obsession with the enemy. More devotion to Jesus. Less blame. More transformation. Less fear. More faith.

That’s a message the church needs to hear.

What do you think?

Do Christians sometimes blame the devil for things that require personal responsibility—or do you believe we’re overlooking the reality of spiritual warfare?
